Is chasing your goals with all of your energy difficult?
Of course, it is.
But what is even harder than that, is spending 40 years working at a career you hate to retire with a few hundred thousand dollars in investments.
I see a ton of my friends and family members focused on retirement. Don't get me wrong, it is great to be money conscious and invest so you can stop working towards the end of your life.
But here’s the thing, if you focus solely on that, and nothing else, you will spend the better most part of your life doing what you do not want to be doing.
This is common because it is easier to conform than it is to go live life the exact way you want to. Fear of failure is a very strong emotion.
It is just the American tradition to go to college, get a full-time job, get married, buy a house, and have kids.
This is great for some people -- but awful for most of us.
So yes, saving and investing for retirement is important, but living a life that you actually enjoy and having work that brings you fulfillment is far more important.
Hear me out, what you should do is keep working the job that you are in, and start to plan out what your ideal life will look like.
Write out your long term goals for your lifestyle, your house, your hobbies and the type of people you spend time with.
This will give you an idea of what to start doing today to be able to get there in a few short years. The path towards your ideal life will be bumpy and full of obstacles, twists and turns.
Although all the difficulties you face along the way will just make you feel even better about accomplishing your ideal life.
Odds are, it will only take a few short years to start living your dream life.
So do it!
After you write out your vision for your desired lifestyle, figure out what you can do today to get started.
Action cures fear, and the best time to start anything is now.
